car is a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier. the air is very cold and heat also works great. just no pressure.

the vents blow air, when its in high only the far right one blows out air with a lot of pressure.

so my question is, how do i replace the cabin air filer?

how do i clean the ducts out of leaves and other stuff?

the motor also makes a noise when i turn the dial all the way up.

      thanks.

I’m scratching my head. I do not see a listing for a cabin air filter in this car.

Motor making a noise when it’s turned all the way up is either a bad bearing (that’s a rumble type sound) or trash in the ductwork..that sounds like ‘rustling leaves’. Could also be ‘buzzing’ if the junk is riding against the blower cage.

If the fan does NOTHING until you crank it to max? I’d look at the heater resistor pack, normally located near the fan blower. At times it burns out and then you’ll have no air flow until you hit ‘max’.

The rest of the issues could be problems with stuck blend doors, garbage build up in the works…blower motor itself could be shot….

Pick up a Haynes manual or Chiltons for the car. It might be worth while to (unless this part is buried into the seventh level of he**) to pull the motor and look for crap in the ductwork—And I’d have a look at the heater resistor pack too.

You may not have a cabin air filter for that vehicle. You might start by removing the blower motor to see if there is debris in the duct work. If there is, you can vacuum out as much as you can to see if that improves the situation. If it doesn’t, you may have debris elsewhere in the system which may require removing the HVAC to be cleaned, or you have an issue with the blower motor. For that reason it’s a good idea to hook up some jumper wires to the blower motor while you have it out of the vehicle to check it’s operation. If it’s moving slow then you might consider replacing it. More info here.

            update

i looked for the bolts to remove the motor and noticed 2 unconnected harnesses. the harness for the motor was still connected, so i left them alone. any idea what they could be for?

i shined a light into the vent ducts and noticed a piece of gray foam sandwiched to another piece of foam, i used a thin tool to seperate them a bit and now i have full pressured air.

the only vent that doesnt have pressure is the driver side one by the door.

what is that foam? was it alright that a moved it a bit?

also all speeds of the fan work.
