2000 acura 1.6EL(honda civic) problem started a week ago, trunk kept popping open for no reason. Then started the car all dash lights were dull and fuel guage went to empty….. ( still had 1/2 tank) and parking brake light came on without parking brake applied car door shut .Shortly after I noticed that the car stalled and trunk popped open again. Try and re-start no crank. Waited 5 seconds car restarted without issue but lights remain then closed door to drive car it completely stalls… Will not crank.open door wait 5 seconds and car starts .door locks hard to lock also takes a few jabs of the lock button to lock doors, also car has factory keyless entry and doors will not unlock with key fob.soon as car door is shut car stalls, and trunk pops open. I unhooked the power wire to the power trunk releases in the trunk to stop annoying trunk opening at unwanted times I think it’s a grounding out somewhere

Bahahahaha, I’m sorry, not an expert but no crank sounds like alarm system or neutral safety switch, but with crazy doors I’d guess alarm system.

I’m no expert but it sure sounds like something is shorted out or lost its ground.

Not sure where too look next…. Checked all grounds in the engine compartment, did a quick inspection under the dash looking for frayed , corroded or burnt wires.
Everything else in the car works fine

Usually there is a bunch of wiring hiding under the driver’s side kick panel. Look for any green corrosion.

Check the large ground wires first:
                -battery cable to block
                -block to body
You could tack on accessory ground wires just for testing purposes…

Let’s not ignore the obvious here. Load test the battery. If you’re battery is bad all other electrical systems will be effected. Make sure the battery and it’s connections are good first with any electrical issue. More info and videos on this topic here, including one on load testing a battery.

Good luck and keep us posted on what you find.
