      1989 honda civic

Okay did a little test and drive around the block.
And i noticed something. Car dies only going down hill.
I wanted to see if it’ll die when im in gear but it doesnt.

When im in neutral and i stop at the hill car will hesistate like its losing gas then dies. I cant start the car Kept cranking but stopped cause didnt want to fuck up the pump
Checked fuel pressure “On position” no fuel. WTF?!

So i just rolled into a flat surface and it starts right up.
Recently did the fuel filter and fuel pump.
I bought an airtex pump everything works fine on flat surface but on hills its having trouble.
Could it be the pump? the sock filter?

      any help appreciated

that is wierd, it could be the sump in the tank, or the way the pick up tube is in the tank (the fuel may slosh away from it on a down hill slope sucking enough air to kill it) , but that wouldnt matteer if the tank was full
        , just a suggestion

unless baffling is broken in the tank.I would suggest
its the pump.Honda is picky with the fuel system. an OE
pump is recommended.are you shore the pump is not cutting
          out for some reason?

im 100% pump works.it idles fine at flat surface.
it only dies on down hill.

Also heres a video i took for you guys too see.
The 1st video is in my garage its in a small hill it doesnt look like a hill but its small hill car facing down. It has no fuel pressure and doesnt start. Looks like it isnt picking up fuel from the strainer. As i roll down to a leveled surface car starts.

This 2nd video is facing the other way upwards starts and idles fine with no prob.

The pickup on the new pump is either not all the way down
or the pump is not right.

You could probably rule out a pickup position issue by filling the tank to full, but then you’re stuck with a tank full of gas if you have to do something to the pump… Did you get the codes pulled?

To me it sounds like a problem with the installation of the pump. You may want to go back in there to check the installation to make sure it’s secure inside the tank as it sounds like the pump is starving for fuel when you go down hill, which could be an installation issue. I’ll also say that Honda pumps hardly ever have a problem so be sure to check for power and ground at the pump itself if you suspect a pump failure to be sure that the pump is actually bad before you replace it.
