I have a 91 Ford tempo and I think something is wrong with the belt tensioner. My alternator belt makes a lot of noise Andi constantly have to replace the belts because they break so often. Any help would be appreciated.

It’s very unusual for a serpentine belt to break. Make sure the pulleys are aligned and the tensioner is not worn out. The harmonic balancer on some years of Tempos had issues as well.

My car had squealing belt and eventually I lost p/s on my car one day. Thankfully I was very close to home and once I got home I found out that p/s tensioner pulley bearing froze up. Of course check for obvious, make sure pulley is inline with other ones and you’re using the right belt with proper amount of ribs (if it has any). One time parts store tried to sell me 5 rib belt instead of 4 “cause computer says so”
