I have a 1999 Nissan Maxima 3.0L V6. My car has been dying lately. when at idle the head lights dim and i loose almost all accessories in the car. If i rev the engine lights power back up. I tested my battery and it was bad so i just replaced it. My alternator got test too turned out to be fine, but i still have the problem. My question is what is causing my car to loose power and die?

How is the idle (is it very low or does it flutter) is there a check engine light on? I had a issue with a Nissan 3.0 not too long ago that had a similar problem (very low idle and when the ac was on it would stall) it had a code for the idle air control valve. If your car has the check engine light on try to have the computer scanned to see what the codes are.

sounds like a charging issue. the battery is new.You may
have over worked the alternator with the dead battery.
check your battery connections are clean and tight.also
check alternator connections and grounds.You might have issues effecting the idle speed. If the engine doesn’t idle fast enough the alternator won’t be able to put out enough power. Base idle is usually around 700-1000 rpm. That said, it could be effected by things like vacuum leaks or other issues. This series of videos has some basics to check in a situation like yours that you might find useful.
