hello guys. first time here.i own a mitsubishi lancer 1989 model.not sure about the specifics(GLI,EL etc). bought it at a nominal amount from a relative.it looks normal upon driving and initial inspection
recently, ive noticed that it consumes too much gas.it about more less 7L of gas for a back and forth ride on a nearby town about (12km). ive talked to a friend who knows a little of trouble shooting and told me to replace the worn fuel hose he spotted upon inspection. But, he cannot tell whether there are other gas leaks in the path, from gas tank going to the engine.so my question is this, how do i initially diagnose if there are leaks in the above mentioned path? second, how do i improve the gas mileage, efficiency and consumption (if it all means the same or does it go together) to improve the performance of my car and save money on precious gas.
thank you for your advices and inputs.
