Can’t make out the sound is coming from

Dear Eric,

I jacked up my car today (a 1993, 3.5L, V6, Dodge Intrepid) to check on what triggered a “white smoke” to puff up two days ago. I know whatever that was, it dripped on my exhaust manifold so that explained the smoke. The thing is, I didn’t see what or where it came from. So I just tightened off hose fittings, screws, and whatever else that needed tightening. I also re-tightened the A/C belt as it was a little bit slack.
Then I started the engine and idled the car for a few minutes and checked for any smoke. There was NONE.
The problem now was, the moment I shifted to drive and started to move, I heard a very faint but distinct “scraping and shrill” metallic noise from under the front of the car and the noise was present whether in reverse or drive position. But on neutral, the noise was not there.
The thing is, this scraping sound was not present before I jacked up the car.
What could be the source of the noise ? Is it anything serious ?

If the car is in neutral and not moving it could be cv joints grinding. check that your
brake dust shield is not bent into the rotor.
