I have a peugeot 308 1.6 vti non turbo 2010. The engine is the same as a mini. The antipolution light is coming on and the car goes into limp mode. If i turn off the engine, take the key out and restart it it runs fine, but the warning light stays on. I have been told by the peugeot gagage that the piston rings are worn on cylinder 3 and this is triggering the warning light. The car does use a bit of oil but not in my view excessively. I have checked the spark plugs and sure enough cylinder 3 is blackened, all the others are fine.
Do you think that the Peugeot mechanic is correct.
Can the piston be removed while the engine is still in the car by removing the sump and cylinder head, loosening the conrod and pushing the piston up.
