Can the 02 sensor be disabled without degrading pe

I have owned a ’98 kia pride (1.3L), a mitsubishi L300 (4d56) and presently a ’93 nissan sentra with a 12k/l (30mpg) long drive. Our nissan now has a fc of 16.5k/l (37mpg) after installing our innovation, (pls see: nuvisysdotblogspotdotcom), with an increase of 30%plus fuel savings. The innovation is perfect for euro 2 engines (non-ecu).

On euro 4 (w/ecu) engines, is it possible to disable the 02 sensor? (Assuming the 02 sensor voltage is 0.5v.) It is necessary to reprogram the ecu because of the increase of oxygen due to better combustion. Car dealers are asking a large sum for reprogramming the ecu. Is there a better or cheaper solution?

Running a car lean is what Volkswagen just got fined for earlier this year. It’s illegal for many of us in the US. It should be quite possible to design a oscillator circuit to mimic the o2sensor and replace it. The right capacitor and a variable resistor might allow you to adjust it until it looks like a sensor on a scan tool, and to the ecm.

thanks Tim, you just described a simple EFIE (Electronic Fuel Injection Enhancer.) Ya, this works perfectly, however, this requires modifying the ECU parameters. As long as a 0.5v is fed to the comp, the comp will think that everything is working properly, right?. A simple EFIE consist of a variable voltage IC, a couple of pots and several resistors.

This ‘trick’ requires cutting wires and very few car owners would allow us to tamper with original wiring. With Euro 2 cars, no problem. Hey, I suggested to VW and Mitsubishi that instead of cheating data, they should try our innovation!

I understand that the EFIE is good for gasoline engines. How about for diesel engines?

I am attaching the summary of the drive cycle test of a toyota car done in 2014. The testing entity (UP-VRTL) is refusing to give us a ‘detailed analysis’ about the test, such as ‘did the device’s save gasoline? by how much? etc..’ Even AVL Austria and EPA are also refusing comment.

Do you need to disable the o2 sensor completely, or could you use a wideband o2 with a resistor inline?

Actually, we had not installed these devices on a euro 4 coz owners would not consent to our cutting the 02 sensor wire. Sir, on euro2 cars, the savings is 20-30%+ but on euro 4 engines, the performance will deteriorate. Our reseach on this matter indicated that the comp thinks that the car is operating ‘lean’ and will dump more fuel. Personally, i would just connect an EFIE so that a 0.5v is sensed by the ecu. We are trying to find a way that is non-invasive, like a simple device “connect n forget”. Some technicians recommended to reprogram the ecu. Maybe, this is the best option, however, they charge exorbitant fees for this. Maybe, we should learn programming the ecu?
