Can no longer open trunk

its the Beetle in my sig. My fiancee just told me that she can no longer open the truck by key either. she can see spings loose in the lock. She will get this fixed as she has no way to get into the trunk. So my questions is what is cheaper? having the lock fixed or have the remote trunk release fixed?

Can you lower the back seats to get in to the trunk? if so, normally you will find a release lever.

you would need to price it out.But the lock needs
to be fixed first to get into the trunk.could be
just a stuck cable.

I believe your problems are related. Often the electric mechanism is connected to the mechanical mechanism of the lock cylinder. If I were you I’d do what I can to get the trunk open from behind the back seat as suggested. Then take a look to see if you just have a loose fastener or something. If the lock cylinder is loose it won’t be able to operate properly. I think you’ll find that if you fix that both problems my be repaired at the same time.
