      hey everyone,
thanks for comments to my post. Yes the comments are all helpful.
      Eric,
I hear you about being a housecall mechanic. I used to do that with computer support myself.
I had not so good experiences too.
It’s probably why you can’t find my Docs to make a house call nowadays either.
      Nico,
      thanks for your suggestions too.
      I’ve had a Kaw EX500 since ’99 and I remember riding Oct 31 – Nov 4 cross country.
It went down to about 30 degrees the night I left and I can remember stopping to warm up,
and when I put my gloved hands on the pipes they were as cold as my hands. 🙂
It took a few minutes of idling, standing still before I got any heat from the pipes.
I’ll post more in the cycle section one of these days.

If anyone is trying to follow my disjointed set of posts here (sorry bout dat),
      I finally started following
      http://www.civicforums.com/forums/115-engine/309151-diy-forgotten-tune-up-mods.html
a month or so ago ( after procrastinating for a few years and not driving the beast much at only 20 mpg).
Then, after finally getting started in the project, one thing just lead to the next thing.
I’m kinda handy at many things, but a certified mechanic I’m not.
I’m always trying to figure out for myself how it should “really” be done, so I can understand why the guys that built it made it that way. It takes me a lot of extra time, but I usually don’t forget it once I figure it out. That is, if I actually did figure it out. Most of the time I just seem to find my own “better?” way of doing it.
      My car repairs..
Well, it looks like I got about 10 mpg, maybe a bit more, increase from my hard work ( with the help from a lot of posts here , on youtube and at civic forums).
But, there is no substitute for actually getting dirty and doing the work, as I found out, again.
At least this year I got most of the work on the one car done before the weather set in.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed about the cars, since this year, I have to go out see if I can pound some nails in the cold without hitting my thumbs too many times. I was hoping to have the carpentry work done before the weather set in too. Though, I’ll count my blessings.
