Hi there eric im a fan of your work! I got a question on bump steer. What components of steering and suspension can cause the steering to be sensitive to the road. steering wheel is off center and does have a drift butIve checked for play but checks fine. Do you have suggestions what to check other than getting an alignment.

Loose ball joints are the most common reason. But loosens in other joints or alignment problem (usually something is bend) can also cause this.

Depends on the vehicle. If it’s a truck application sometimes they use steering dampers. When a damper goes bad, it can cause what you call ‘bump steer’. Other times the alignment should be checked. Tire pressure is also important. Overinflated tires can cause ride quality issues. I suppose it depends on the vehicle and it’s condition.
