      update 10-17-11

No new pictures yet hope to get some soon maybe a video also.

car has hit 1000 miles on the rebuild. It is running great. The cam was not installed yet my friend that I was working with was not confident with the tuning program I had and I
was no where near experienced enough to try and tune the car my self with the big compression bump+cam. So we decided to put it all together get it tuned and broken in then install the cam.

67 F-100. she’s on a 78 F-250 frame with the 460/ C6 not a lot done under the hood. Performer intake and 750 Holley. Its my daily driver so im fighting the urge to beef it up. And 11 MPG is already bad enough. [url=http://www.ericthecarguy.com/forum/memberphotos/223.jpg:3kae4j0d]

lol not to sure about that one… my lease agreement doesnt allow for me to work on my car or stuff like that. I have to work with friends or con my dad into letting me use his hangar for a few days.

on a side not my car was running and i was able to put 600 miles on it before my alternator (from the previous engines lol) crapped out on me. I have a new alternater on and now it wont start I am starting a tech thread to try and find an answer. you can check out this one too

Here’s my project. Bought this truck 5 years ago, drove it for a couple years, lost my licence for 2 years so I decided to do what I always wanted to do with it, build an engine and swap it out. Still ironing out some things and haven’t been able to drive it yet. But it does run good, can’t wait to finally be able to drive it.

2000 Chevy Silverado, regular cab short box, 5 speed manual, 4.3L

I’m a technician at a GM dealer, this 2005 Cadillac CTS-V is the doner for my truck, it dropped a valve, it broke in 3 pieces, ruined a head, face of the valve managed to wedge sideways in the piston, other pieces ended up in the intake, no cylinder damage at all! Customer wanted a brand new engine so I installed it.

Brand new $9K LS6 long block I installed in the “V”

I rebuilt the engine during the winter in well below 0 temperatures in my garage, new pistons andrings, all new bearings, 2 new heads, new LS6 intake, custom Lunati cam with Lunati springs.

                      The heart transplant begins

LS6 dressed up with some ceramic coated Edelbrock shorty headers, brand new complete CTS-V accessory drive

                      Installed in truck

Video after I got it running. What a thrill hearing it come to life for the first time!

Thanks guys, took a lot of time and screwing around with certain things. For the most part, getting the engine in and ready to run was the easy part. Installed stock V8 motor mount brackets on the frame. LS6 block is identical to the 4.8/5.3/6.0L blocks so it drops right in place. Now my battle is trying to get a starter to fit without dragging on the flywheel. I’m using a 4.8L 5-speed flywheel and clutch, can’t find a starter to fit. Not sure if the starter holes are drilled different in the aluminum block versus the cast 4.8 block or what it is. Already have the LS6 flywheel. Might say screw the 5 speed and get a T-56 6-speed manual transmission and clutch. It’s a fairly easy swap. Just need to get some 4:56 or 5:12 gears for the rear end to accomodate the 0.5:1 6th gear ratio in the T-56.
