so the timing belt on my 95 accord lx (F22B2) crapped out. i have a timing kit (with honda springs and water pump, mitsuboshi belts, and Koyo bearings) my question is do i simply throw the belt on like it is?
if not what is the proper procedure for getting all the timing marks to line up with out doing any damage?
any advice is appreciated. i do have the vmanual for this job and have done this job on another f22b2 engine, but that was just a service interval job, no broken belts or items out of time…

      thanks!

Have you checked if there was any damage done? I’m thinking that’s an interference engine, not sure I guess but I think all Honda engines are.

If there’s no damage then easiest thing is to remove the spark plugs and then hand crank the engine until the crank mark is in position. Then do the same for the cams (not familiar with Honda engines so however many cams there are).
You wont’ damage anything as long as you’re just turning things by hand with a socket wrench. If you can’t get the crank into position just try moving the cams around a bit until whatever valve was in the way is moved.

No, I was going with the ETCG approach and didn’t really want to tear down to check…
          it is an interference engine
i’m just trying to avoid causing any (or any further) damage.
          thanks for your reply!

Well, it would seem I barfed the valves. Did the timing kit rotated the engine by hand. All seemed very promising until I fired it up. Chug chug tick chug tick tick… bummer
Guess it’s a new head or a new car at this point.
At least I’ve got my gas guzzling 95 cougar (v8) to get me to work.
