broke tps censer?

      i have a 97 honda civic with a b20b4…never messed with the tps…took it off the other day and im pretty sure the spring and the circle plastic peace should not just fall out …it looks like it was broke off,is it supose to be connected and stay in place when you take it off?

          i dont get it,with the broke tps i was throwing a cel but car was ideling perfect and was not trying to die…..i replaced it today and now im getting a surging idle and wanting to die again and just cleaned the throttle body and iacv just the othe day…im running out of ideas!

            Did you mess with the idle mix screw? Sometimes when people do it’ll cause that surging idle.

              You might need to adjust the TPS too.

                yes i have messed with the idle screw before and probably is out of time would that acause idle issues….i noticed you can adjst the ps butdidnt know anything about it.

                  Yes, especially if the screw was turned without following the proper procedures. Idle is supposed to be between 700-800 r.p.m. In order to correctly set the idle speed, you’re going to need a tach so you can read the engine’s rpm. Do you have one? You might be able to use one of those infrared tach’s too. I’ll guide you through the rest once you get one.

                  You will need a multimeter to adjust the TPS so you can tap into the black/green wire by back probing it, touching the back probe with the positive lead and touching the negative lead to a good body ground. You should see .5 v at closed throttle and 4.5 at wide open throttle.
