2000 grand am gt 3.4L engine….. when I push the brake pedal the steering wheel pulls to the right. the car doesn’t really seem to pull to the right but the steering wheel turns about a quarter turn then when I let off the pedal it goes back to center… just put new pads on it and have replaced the motor mounts as well

sound to me like something is loose like a tie-rod end or maybe out of alignment (or both). I’d start prying on parts in the front and see if anything moves.

I have already done a crazy amount of work under the hood of this car, the rack and pinion broke so it has been replaced, put new struts on, tie rod ends are new, sway bar links are new,new power steering pump, new water pump, cv joints replaced…….. I am considering the brake calipers but it just seems for some reason that is not the cause. it just feels strange that the steering wheel turns way more than it actually pulls. it drives down the road straight so I wouldn’t think it was an alignment issue. I checked the tie rods, they are good and tight, and I can’t find anything loose at all. I have to say I am completely baffled with this… it only does it when going forward, either rolling in neutral or driving in gear, but not in reverse, or rolling backwards, which is also making me think it is not the calipers. how about ball joints????

How did your calipers look? Were the slider pins moving freely and did you lubricate them upon re-installation?

calipers seemed to be in good shape… they pushed back smoothly, nothing leaking no residue, etc… did not lubricate the guide pins.. I will do this tomorrow and let ya know

If you hit the brakes and it pulls unless your wheels are really really out of wack it is a brake issue or wheel bearing issue. When you go to pull the brakes jack up the car before you do anything else and grab each of the front wheels and check for bearings. Then I would go after brake caliper slides.
