Chances are when you are pumping the brakes hard you are depleting the booster/engine of vacuum.

You may have a bad Master Cylinder… Please, more background information is better…

How did you bleed the brakes? Did you do it old fashioned with one person pushing the brake pedal while you open the bleeder? If so did the brake pedal get pushed all the way to the floor? If the pedal got pushed all the way to the floor chances are you damaged the seals on the master. The pedal isn’t used to going all the way to the floor and when it does while bleeding the brakes it can damage the seals. I usually put a 2×4″ under the pedal to prevent this.

The fluid was bad, yes the work is done, no the master cylinder did not run dry.

Yes the oil fashioned way, yes the pedal got pushed all the way, seals on the master cylinder, so that’s means I have to change the master cylinder?

This is the first time i’ve heard about seals leaking because the pedal was pressed to the floor…. don’t think that’s the problem and I don’t think the power booster is the issue either. If the power booster is leaking than you wouldn’t be able to press the brake pedal down easily.. it’d be very very difficult to depress. Just give gravity bleeding a try and see if that solves the issue.

Is the pedal harder to press down than before you did the service?

Don’t know if this can be related, but when I did my brake job some weeks ago I had put the springs that hold the brake shoes in the wrong position, and they were pushing back the pads waaaay too much, so to make it brake i too had to push two or three times the pedal in rapid sequence, and after I released the brake it came back the same.

Then I re-checked the brakes against some photos I had taken before starting the job and noticed the springs were all pushed on a side, in a very unnatural way, so I took those apart again and reassebled as per the photos, and the problem was solved.

So, did you remove the shoes or at least the springs?

By the way, I hope you fix your brakes! Best wishes! 🙂
