      Hi everyone,

I’m new to the forum and I just have a question about my front brakes. I recently installed new pads and rotors but after about a week later, they are still squeaking. Any suggestions, Anti seize?

      Thanks

Wearever rotors and pads. The pads are ceramic. There is a advance auto parts store down the street from me.

I assume these are brand new and the pads were matched to the rotors by the guy (or gal) at Advance, right? I also assume you replaced rotors and pads on both front wheels? I don’t like applying anything to quiet a new set of brakes unless I’ve thoroughly rechecked everything. I start by double checking (again) that the parts place gave me the right parts for the job and then, that they’re installed correctly.

One common cause of squeaking in replaced disc brake systems is loose mounting on either the caliper, pads or associated hardware. I’d tear it down and retighten everything to manufacturer specs, then see what you hear. [Wait a minute…see what you hear? That can’t be right…ok, “hear what you hear”. Well, you know what I mean. ;>)

Thanks for your help. Yes I replaced the rotors and pads on both of the front wheels. I’ll try taking it apart and re-tightening everything. My car still stops perfectly now that the new parts are on. Btw its a 2008 Ford Explorer.
