Q: I just had my brake pads and rotors replaced. The right front tire squeaks when I brake. It’s been two weeks since the work was done. I wanted to rule out brake dust so I hosed down each wheel after driving a few miles. The right front rotor started steaming when the water hit it. None of the other rotors did. What could be the problem?

Brake noise is almost always caused by the friction material used. The above article covers this as well as tips on how to service your brakes so they stay quiet.

Either the caliper piston is not retracting, the guide pins or bushings are binding or the brake hose has collapsed causing fluid pressure on the brake caliper piston.

If they were professionally repaired I would return and have them inspect them.

Worn steering or suspension components can cause tire squeal on brake application also.
