      2005 Silverado 1500 4×4 with brake problems.

After having some issues with my brakes and doing some research, I discovered that I had the classic symptoms of a master cylinder failure. Soft pedal, and the pedal slowly sank to the floor, with no obvious fluid leaks. No big deal. So, I replace the master cylinder, and noticed that once the reservoir was removed from the old one, there was an obvious sign of a leaking seal, a very clean spot where all the “crud” was washed away. Swapped the reservoir to the new master cyl, and installed on the truck. Bench bled the master before install, bled lines after install.

Now, I still have the soft, sinking pedal, but I can also now hear the booster losing it’s vacuum when the pedal is cycled. Not a hiss, more of a loud PSHHHH! That I did not hear before the part swap. I sprayed around the area with brake cleaner, as I had it handy from cleaning up any spilled brake fluid. No change in engine idle.

So my question is, did I get a bad new master cylinder? Did the install of the new master cyl reveal a failed brake booster? Did something happen where I lost the seal of the gasket that seals the master cyl to the firewall?

I’ll try to get pics and perhaps a vid of the noise, uploaded to youtube and post the link.

      Thx in advance!

1st thing comes to mind was my 87 Taurus. I had leaking booster on it, and replaced it. It came with a MC rod THAT NEEDED TO BE ADJUSTED to a spec. As the result, as I didn’t know that, I basically locked my brake system, as rod was pushing too far into MC causing continuous pressure.
You sure yours is set right?
Next, did you bleed ABS block?
And yes, I did have bad MCs outta da box.
