Hello guy’s i am working on a 98 blazer right now with a low brake pedal i replaced the master cylinder , bleed the entire system and still a low pedal. At this point i am thinking booster but not sure i do not hear any hissing noises and i checked all hoses going to the wheels no leaks all pads front and rear are in good shape does anyone have any idea’s on what else it could be? I can’t seem to find just the booster check valve no one sells that separately any help on this would be great thanks guy’s.

Did you make certain that calipers are able to move freely on the sliders? If they are hung up, that can cause a low pedal. Also, did you check, and properly adjust clearance when you installed the new master cylinder? If there is too much clearance between the pushrod and the master, you will get a low pedal.

Along with what Tomh said, make 100% sure you have the system completely bleed out (rears also) if have seen systems were it acts like all the air is out, but there is some trapped in the long line from the front to the rear. Also if you are jacking up the rear to bleed the brakes you might be closing the proportioning valve and making it difficult to get the air from the rear bleeders.

Try Eric’s method, put a hose on the bleeder going into a jar of clean fluid (the end of the hose needs to be submerged in the fluid) and pump the brakes with the bleeder cracked. There is a real good video ion this site of how to do it that way.

Did you bench bleed the Master cyl? If you didn’t, since the Master is mounted on an angle the air will get trapped at the top of the bore. Make sure the rear brake shoes are adjusted so there is a slight drag on them. Bleed the brakes starting at the R Rear, LR, RF, LF.

Strange. Usually if a booster is bad it will create a very hard brake pedal because there is no assist. I can’t argue with results however. Thanks for keeping us up to date.
