I’m trying to figure out how to remove an individual line from this bracket(Luckily it’s the one on top/Front Right) They’re clamped in with a “C” shape with hooks. and I tried to pry them out with a flathead/smaller prybar from the side, but I fear of bending/rupturing additional lines. Those two little studs sticking out of the back do absolutely nothing and are very deceiving  …

My endgame in this is to get that old line out, and form a new one to its’ contour. It connects from the actuator/ABS control unit to the Front Right by the looks of things. I was thinking of undoing the fitting for the control unit and plug it up, then I might just snip the line around that clamp and then push out the remaining piece from it?

      Any suggestions?

          Hey, Rob.

That gray clamp that houses those brake lines. I can’t get the brake line(s) out of that housing, they’re held in too tightly and don’t know how to pull them out without potentially damaging the lines.

The photo doesn’t really clarify things for me. Is the line snapped into “C” or “U” shaped plastic clips?

I would try disconnecting the line at both ends so that it has some wiggle room. Some factory-installed lines can be amazingly rigid when fully connected. Also, the plastic tends to harden with age and it loses its youthful flexibility.

ya never use a reguare wrench on a brake line or gas line they have a tendancy to strip the bolt… because they turn it by outside edges,,, with a flare wrench they turn it by the center and hug the bolt more… lowering the chances of striping the head of the nut… thats why always use a flare wrench or Crowfoot Flare Nut Wrench bepanding on your avable space… because brake line nuts metal is very soft and easy to strip… add some penitratin oil on it before to help

Thank you, this seems to be going over Robby’s head, although he’s giving some good advice on how to properly screw/unscrew a line fitting…

I don’t know what else is needed in order to understand the problem but, I think in this “spur of confusion”- you may have helped me. I believe this plastic “clip” “retainer” “housing” “clamp”, has probably fused with the rusty lines and I’m coming to the inevitable conclusion that I may need to cut this fother mucker!

                So… thanks… off I go…

Can’t really see any detail in the pic, too much shadow, can you take another with the light behind the camera? Also what car is this?

I just got done taking EVERY brake line out of my S10 this morning and good god was it a pain in the a$$. They seem to like putting line clamps only where the bolt is as inaccessible as possible.

I feel you. yea, can barely squeeze my hand in with any kind of tool for that matter, got me some NiCopp line, was getting excited to do ’em… and then this stupid retainer got in my way, should be number 6 (2 of them to the front) on the diagram.
