I didn’t know exactly how to worth the topic since i just want help finding garages near me who have a brake lathe.
The problem i have is the following.
front brake disc for a Celica GT4 St205 cost £80 each
rear brake disc for a Celica GT4 St205 cost £20 each
rear brake disc for a Lotus Elan Se cost 70£ each.the only place i found near me that skims brake discs charges £50 each and they must be fitted in the car.
I don’t want to go around my car with the old discs for 2 main reasons.
1 – I had them pulsating on braking so i rather avoid the risk.
2 – takes a lot of time to swap discs back to the old onesso im looking for some help finding someone who has a lathe that can do it without being in the car like Eric has, and hopefully will charge a more modest price. so i can reuse the discs i have replaced recently.
my problem is really the lack of information out there about garages that can do this job, the one i found was by asking around and according to my knowledge its the only one near me.
Everything i find online is information provided by the companies selling the machines (basically telling me who bought their machines in my area) and these are all for machines that skim the discs in the car.
In short.
what type of business should i look for to have brakes skimmed ? (i suspect not all lathes are big enough to host a 250mm diameter disc)
Am i simply using the wrong words in my google search ?PS.
im located in walsall. UK (near birmingham)
