Brake hardware (locators)

      I just changed the brakes in a 97 mazda 626 and the locator clips were rusted to pieces. I would go back out and get them but I can’t for reasons I’d rather not discuss. But do I absolutely need them? I don’t care about noise as long as they work and stop the car.

        I would suggest you replace any hardware associated with the brakes.
        The clips and hardware do keep the pads in place. Also not worth taking
        a chance on a brake malfunction.
