Hi everyone,
I am changing the front brake calipers on my 2003 ford escape (v6) and ran into an issue when threading on the reman. caliper I got from adv. auto. when threading the caliper onto the brake line (no banjo bolt, direct thread to caliper) I kept getting a twisted brake line or loose line if I turned it back a rotation. I screwed the old caliper back on and it was perfect, no twisted line or loose line that would twist when tightening.
I noticed the reman caliper included copper washers which were not on the old caliper. I incerted them over the threads of the break lines and thread the caliper on and now it fits great. don’t have photos right now but does that sound normal for reman. calipers? I know copper washers are used on banjo bolts but what about direct thread lines? The line is now straight, tight and not leaking.
