Brake Bleeding Issue

      Hey all,

I have a 2009 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport and I just changed out the front calipers. I went to bleed the brakes and I got fluid and air out of the rear two calipers but nothing out of either of the front ones. I’m using a vacuum bleeding tool for the first time so is there something I am missing? I bled the calipers in the RR,LR,RF,LF sequence.

When I changed out the calipers a lot of fluid flowed out but the reservoir never dipped below the minimum level. Could air have gotten into the master cylinder from the union bolt? That seems like a lot of uphill climbing for air. Any advice is appreciated.

Not to be a snob, but you probably should have exclusively bled your front end. As long as the master cylinder cap was off (for pressure reasons), you’re probably good to go after your fluid change. When you change your calipers or open the front brake bleeder screw, it doesn’t POUR out like crazy. But yes, air could be introduced upon reassembly if it’s careless. I wouldn’t worry about your master cylinder as long as it’s topped off. I bet your brakes feel great.
