Just thought I’d add my 2 cents. Bought a Bosch 18v impact wrench a couple of months ago as my airline is not always accessible. So far it’s been a great time saver and I haven’t found anything it won’t undo! Currently one of my favourite tools next to the Power Probe 3 I got at Christmas time.

Those cordless impacts are pretty handy for service calls with flat tires and for going to the local pull-your-part salvage yards. Noisy as all hell, but handy. Hows your battery life? Got some newer Bosch cordless stuff that was 18v and wasn’t too impressed with how fast the battery gets drained.

Nick, the battery life on mine has been excellent but it did come with two x 3 amp hour lithium ion batteries which seem well up to the strain. Rapid recharger does the job in about 45 minutes which seemed awfully fast to begin with but the batteries don’t seem to suffer. Also, if you’re near a power supply, there is a trickle charge function so one battery could be left on charge pretty much all day until needed. As for noise, it doesn’t seem too bad to me but then again, maybe that’s an age thing!

Yeah, for salvage yard runs they are indeed very useful and practically unreplaceable.

I’ve also read about and watched on youtube about the new IR W7150 which seems to be the best battery powered nut-buster of this whole planet.
I mean, it easily matches the performance of its own brethren the IR 2135TI , and it’s battery powered and very very slim.
I’d really like to see it against a honda crank bolt! 😆

And, also, I looked up its price, and it’s not prohibitive, I mean not for a full time technician.

I’m impressed, I never thought a battery operated unit could do that!

When they come down on price I’d like to try one of those 😉

Live long and prosper (and stay dirty!)

To be honest, I’m not much a fan of craftsman tools by any means, but I do like their cordless C3 series tools. I have 3 of the batteries and I have the 1/2″ impact, reciprocating saw, 1/2″ drill, 3/8″ right angle drill, and 4 1/2″ angle grinder. I haven’t had any problems with any of them (apart from the angle grinder draining the batteries in about 10 minutes of use. which is to be expected). and I haven’t had any issues with any of them *knock on wood*.
The impact has enough torque for most of my needs and is quicker than dragging around the air hose. but if the cordless doesn’t break it loose, then I get out my 1/2″ Aircat lol.
