Body Control Module transfer

Ok. i have an 04 Impala. bought a wrecked one for $200 for spare parts. The BCM is messed up in mine. they have to be programmed to your car im told.

Q: If I was to switch it with the one in the wrecked car, What else would i have to change to make it work in mine? I was thinking i’d have to switch the ECM too. Impala’s have the Security CRAP that im trying to get by so it will work.

In my car the security stuff lives in the ECM not the body control module making those modules swappable. Even if that is true for your Impala it might still need programming depending on accessories installed.

I believe you can swap the modules without any difficulty. Swapping the PCM probably wouldn’t work however. That would have the security systems built in as mentioned.
