I’m replacing the intake manifold on a 2003 Dodge Caravan. I have the manifold pulled off and will be cleaning the gasket surfaces before putting the new gasket in. I noticed that the inside of the intake is discolored ( brownish color). I also noticed that the passages on one side of the manifold have more build-up (dirtier) than the other side; not sure why? This is the first time I’ve tackled a job like this so I’m hoping to get some advice as to the best way to clean out the passages of the manifold before reassembly. I’ve seen a video where a guy used a torch and air to burn out the carbon from an intake but his didn’t have the injectors or fuel rail attached and I don’t think mine is dirty enough for this kind of treatment. Is there any value in servicing the injectors while I’ve got access to them? Also, I noticed that my plastic air intake is quite oily on the inside. Should this be cleaned up before installation as well? I took some pics of my intake manifold and air intake thinking it might help any readers.
