I’ve been getting a lot of mixed answers regarding this, basically I would like to jack up the car from the middle so I can put jack stands in the standard pinch welds where designated.

Is it safe to jack up the car at this point? Or at least support it with a jack stand (for instance directly to the side of the standard pinch weld jacking point)

I’m a retired autobody man. Trust me, never Jack it up there. Only the notched pinch welded areas have been reinforced. Raising it there can cause a jack to go right thru the metal and that would ruin your entire day.

Almost every car made in the last 40 years is called a unibody car. That means the frame rails do not run the length of the car, there is a rear and a front sub frame. There are things that look like frame rails in the.middle, but they are made of the same very thin sheet metal that the doors and fenders are made of.

My advice here, it look for the sub frame bolts that also have a donut style body mount around them. That area is heavily reinforced, even more than the pinch welded areas. The front sub frame.hold the entire engine and tranny to the body. It has 4 large vertical bolts, one at each corner. You will only see the head of the bolt and a round sorta squashed donut looking spacer just above it. That is a great alternative place to safely raise the car up at.

If you have doubts, please take a pic and post it and I’ll do my best to point you in the right direction. Stay safe!

On most Acura’s Honda’s ive seen i think almost all of them they have a square. With a small hole in it stamped in the front sub frame. In the factory service maunal its shows the exact place To put a floor jack.

If I understand you correctly …
You want to attempt to lift the side of your vehicle at the mid point ( I assume with a floor jack ) and support it at the jack point with jack stands.

            1) Supporting the vehicle at the jacking points will work, they are designed to support the weight load.

            2) Jacking the side of the car at the mid point of the rocker panel…..
Unless you want to bend the uni-body structure of your car DON”T DO IT
