      Hello,
I’ve searched the forum for this topic to no avail, and from google the recommendations are 2 – 3 years old.

Am looking to upgrade my H4 bulbs ( from a previously upgrade set which I find not having enough output
MTEC MTEC H4 12v 55w DIAMOND WHITE HID CLASS UPGRADE BULBS)

      What would you recommend?
would installing 100/80w bulbs melt the cables & bulb housing?
I only have a budget for an upgrade set and not HID packages.

      thanks in advance.

ps: am sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask about this.

Hi, I have had similar issues with my 2002 Fiat Punto’s headlights; it has very dim projectors, and standard bulbs don’t offer quite enough light.

So I tried some brands that claim to offer more lumens, and in the end I came to this conclusion:

completely avoid “el-cheapo power upgrade bulbs”!!!!

And also avoid 80/100W bulbs, as you fear, they’ll start melting your headlight housings, wires, and you’ll really risk a fire!
I tried these too, as soon as I turned on the lights I started feeling a “burning plastic smell”, and touched the wires and they were very hot!

I find myself quite well with Philips Vision Plus bulbs , or even better Philips Xtreme Vision ones (but they cost A LOT!).

If you want the best possible light a “standard” bulb can offer, go with Osram bulbs; cost half the money than the Philips, but give better light than “el-cheapos” 😆 , and last longer!!

        Hope this helps! 😉

Live long and prosper (and stay dirty!)

I would not put high wattage bulbs in the car.

          Reasons are
Housings are not designed for the higher wattage which gives off extra heat.
Wiring harness may not be rated for the extra current
Most high wattage bulbs are rated for Off road use and you may get fined for using them.

I would go with a Philips 100%, RING Automotive 100%.
          Avoid the blue tinted ones.
          They give off less lumens.

thanks for the replies, really appreciate it.

I think I will go with the philips Xtreme vision, the price is only 37$usd ( here where i live )
which is pretty much what all bulbs cost + – a couple of bucks.
