It’s funny how this is already sparking comments like, “I may unsubscribe now that you have a lift because you’re not like us anymore” (yes I’m paraphrasing here). So by that logic, I need to stay in a cramped dark garage with an abusive landlord while I crawl around on my back bench pressing transfer cases.

I can’t really see where there’s growth in that. What’s the point? Why try to be better? Why even think about moving forward in life at all? Personally I think that’s a very narrow point of view but, everyones entitled to their opinions. That said, I’m going to enjoy the heck of working on my new lift.

Erics first shop was magnificent compared to where I started. I had no concrete. Just prairie and a converted stable with doors. Later on we actually poured a floor and took the animal equipment out and made it so when it rained we didn’t get soaked. Kids today have basically the Ritz Carlton to work in compared us and they still complain.

Before I had a shop I would goto peoples houses to work on their vehicles. I remember once I was working under a car in the winter and when I got up half of my body was covered in snow. So to me, my first shop WAS a palace.

Kids today have it much easier than we did. Make do is what we did. Now lots of kids cannot change a wheel in a heated 30,000 shop with marble floors and gold plated Mac tools.

I do not see why someone would get upset about how ETCG spends his money.
Plus for real – what mechanic or tech wouldn’t like to have a lift? Makes every job easier and faster.

Maybe in repair videos where the car needs to be lifted, he could explain additional challenges or if the job is even practical when the vehicle is on jackstands instead of a nice lift. I guess it would already be obvious that is is gonna be harder on jackstands but anyways…

Also just curious, what kind of power does a lift take? Eric mentioned about running electricity, do those things take more voltage and/or amperage than what is normally delivered to a house?
