battery molds?

one guy took a look at my battery and saw mold and rust. he said the battery may be going bad. I was told to put water in it, and coke somewhere else. Coke, as in coca cola. Is he for real? Do I put the water inside the thing where it says “do not open/poison”?

sound like your battery terminal need cleaning the best way is to take off and clean with wire brush.coke will eat the bill up off. but a good cleaning with a wire brush better. by the way if you put coke in side of battery you will destroy it.

Remove the battery terminals.
Wire brush or use sand paper to clean both the terminals and battery posts.
Mix a solution of warm water and baking soda in a spray bottle.
Spray down the battery and surrounding area to neutralize any acid.
Rinse with warm water and dry off.
Reattach your battery terminals.
Might suggest you coat them with some silicone paste to help prevent further corrosion.
