I’m having a problem with my 1990 ford ranger. I hear a banging usually when accelerating, sometimes when just coasting. I can’t remember it ever happening over 25 mph, which makes me think it’s not something making contact somewhere. It also stopps whenever I brake, but will come back when I release the brake. I just had a problem with the Check valve, on the brake booster. Could I have done something wrong in that repair? Any advice would be appreciated.

By “banging” do you mean “knocking”?? Does it increase in frequency as RPM’s increase? Check the oil level. Many times if the oil is low it can cause the engine to make a knocking noise from lack of lubrication.

The oil level is good. And it doesn’t increase as rpms do. It sounds like a bong. And I can feel a vibration in the pedals.
