Doing timing belt, oil pump 1995 accord. I got to the oil pump and removed the bolts. Well, I didn’t take the bolt out of the gear that goes to the rear balance shaft itself in the engine. So when I went to remove the oil pump, the shaft came out of the engine and of course turned as it came out because the two brass gears were no longer synced. The outer gear the balance belt rides on is attached to a brass gear which is synced with another brass gear which is bolted to the balance shaft in the engine. So now I want to remove that bolt that holds the brass gear to the balance shaft and transfer the brass gears to the new pump and push the shaft back in the engine, but I don’t think the shaft is in the same rotational place it was in when it came part way out of the engine.
So Just put the bolt/screwdriver whatever, through the hole now and make sure when the pump goes back the dot is in the right place when the brass gears sync?
Yes, that’s the answer, right, I figured it out. Line it up from the back then put the gears back with the external dot to the right and bottom!
