Hi im thinking about buying a 1995 Toyota Celica GT with a bad wheel bearing. The only problem is, is that if i buy it i would have to drive it 70 miles back home. Would it be ok to drive it that far? How much would it be to get it fixed?

This really depends on how bad the wheel bearing is. Ask the previous owner how much they trust it… The only way to tell is to inspect it.

About replacing. Rears are easy, they are bolt on (cost around $40-$90 depending on brand and where you get it)…. Fronts have to be pressed out and the new bearing pressed in (Cost around $20-$35) Not hard to do, but it helps to have the right tools. (A Shop press is a really nice thing to have)… HF has a set to help do this. I personally use a hub tamer, but have heard the HF is pretty good (except the press bolt)

Here is a write up I did on Honda front bearings… Similar procedure except you don’t have to worry about the magnetic pickup on the bearing or wheel sensor. Toyotas are easier to do, but also have inner and outer seals (which should be replaced).

        Good luck
