So on my toyota camry 91 with 61k miles I already have warped rotors. When I brought the car used and did a test run the front brakes already had tapered wear. I switched it out and did a resurface of the disk and installed new pads. Still getting tapered wear. Even with that happening the pads wear evenly like > / / that. Just in a diagonal and not one side is much less than the other. Still has the original Toyota Aisin Caliper. Maybe it is time to change it.

I don’t really want to dish out 100 bucks for the brake caliper. The disc brakes and pad alone cost 80 bucks. If I have too then I would. I also took out the brake caliper and the piston is out more on the top than the bottom. That is in fully retracted position when using a c clamp installing the new pads. Also I would be using aftermarket parts such as autozone, carquest, or pepboys. I don’t have too much to spare. I know there are going to be people trying to say oem is better, which I agree. Right now I just need stuff to fit in the budget.

The pins are lucubrated. No sticking or overheating at all. I can brake at 25mph and stop with no pull to one side. Just shaking at 40mph to 0 at medium brake to a stop on a yellow. My braking distance is bad.

Without really knowing or seeing it,It almost sounds like the piston in the caliper is sticking.

Yes I think it is that too. Due to the fact they wear tapered. The original pads that wore tapered were knocking hard every time I braked. That was when I got the car used.

They only sell the caliper as itself. The bracket is separate.

Do you recommend to buy both of those items when replacing the caliper?
The brake disc and pads are a must.

Also if I wanted the hardware that is separate too. 10 bucks

I would be getting those at my local autozone due to my budget. Reman Toyota Caliper. Autozone rotor and pads. I already have some basic knowledge of changing my brakes. Grand total is about 200bucks.

I have had my share of problems with parts from Autozone, but I have never had any real complaints about their brake calipers. Not terribly fond of their master cylinders, but I haven’t had any issues with their calipers.

I would go ahead and spend the extra $10 for the new hardware, it is a small price to pay. The brackets, you should be able to reuse with no problems.

I would purchase the caliper and the bracket. Ask for semi loaded. The guide pins as well as the holes in the bracket are likely causing the uneven pad wear.

Turns out that it was just warped rotors. The brake pads wore normally. Caliper is in good condition. Saved some money. It looked like it was tapered wear but it was following the rotor. The rotor was rusty and warped so bad that it cannot be used again.

My mechanic had showed me on the resurface machine and it was terrible.
