i am new here, but always watched “eric the car guy” tutorials on youtube (kind of my goto guy )i see on the site that there is some type-R love..soooo why not ? my project that i am working on (for about over a year). is a jdm 98 spec b18c5 inside of a basic cx ek hatch. i have spark, plenty of fuel on the spark plugs, and she is in-time. i checked all my wires three times, and swapped ecu’s, from hondata to aem back to hondata to aem and now on a obd2a p2p ecu with a vtec code. on the aem ems only thing out of the norm is the engine load parameter..my map sensors ( more then one) are fine but with key-on it’s reading at 36.5 kpa.

it ran and idled okay when i first dropped her in the car (no boost) :woohoo: :side: :S . also 2nd time i dropped the engine back in it was boosted and ran ( but it wouldn’t idle on it’s own)

My guess might be your mapping. With custom stuff like that you kinda have to program your own fuel map and idle strategy. You might consider taking it to a tuner to have it set up to run with your modifications.

The truth is with custom set ups like yours you’re very much on your own. It’s very difficult to do anything besides offer support in situations like yours because they’re so unique.

Good luck and keep us posted.

i was thinking that also by the tuner program i see that the map wasn’t reading 0 or close to it so i bought me a new one .. rebuilt the distributor and now im on a charge still think it is something stupid .. with aem you can set up your idle and all through out the wizards. even when i thought the ecu could be my issue i pluged in a stock p2p honda ecu … i just wanted to make sure i went through everything before i get a new engine harness.. lets just forget that it is a built car ..i only want to run so i can get that tune i crave :stick:

While reading your post, I was thinking wire harness. See that at the end, you are thinking that too. I would double check all your wires from your ecu.

You can’t forget the mods in a situation like this. Things have to work together. They’re designed to work together at the factory. They take years of research and development to come up with the designs and systems that go into a vehicle. You come in, change all that, and then say ‘ignore the mods’. Sorry, it just doesn’t work that way. Especially via a forum. We can’t even see and test the vehicle. All we can do here is guess, and in this situation guess based on the parts used and your mechanical ability. As I stated in my last post, the most we can do in a situation like this is offer moral support. Which I’m happy to do, but I don’t think that will solve the issue you’re having. Of corse we want you to come back and tell us what the fix is. Some of us use this information for future reference. In fact, that’s what this forum is all about. We’ll do what we can to help, but I’m afraid our expertise is limited on this one. Good luck.

if it fits, it ships… i am darn near stock specs  … so after all night probing that harness with a multi-meter. everything was going good until i hit the icm wire gave me around 00.1v also i quad-checked the fuses, and i found that the mg clutch relay is missing ? is this relay just for a/c ?

after going through the wire harness with a probe. i came to the conclusion i might just need a bigger bang .. only part that is actually stock is the ignition system. thinking everything will work if i have a stock ecu, stock fuel pressure, timing, with upgraded parts. i still have that gut feeling it’s something stupid causing a no spark.
