I’m looking to rebuild my B18c out of a 1996 GSR because of a oil burring issue, my question is if i can reuse the rod baring and pistons of the look alright. At Toyota we have a TSB for oil consumption problems and just replace the pistons and rings and do not replace the rods or bearings if they are alright, just wording if i could get away with just ball honing the bore and replacing the rings. Any info about what Honda recommends or past experience would be very helpful. Thanks in advance, and if anyone needs help with Toyota’s I’ll be more then happy to help! Cheers

        Why would you want to?

You’re in there already anyway, so you might as well replace the bearings and such. They’ve been in there since ’96, yes? They’ve seen a lot of miles and wear.

If you can’t replace them due to cost, then there you go… that’s your answer. If cost isn’t that big a concern, then do it right the first time, yes?
