I may be doing the front CV joints on my Tucson which has the optional awd feature. It is a transverse mounted engine so its fwd stock. I was wonder sense its awd so it may work maybe but I don’t know as i don’t want to ruin my transmission or transfercase.
It does have a open rear diff and a manual locker what disengages after 30kmh. Maybe the car I’ll detect that the front wheels are slipping due to the absence of the CV joints.

Can this ruin anything? I have the GLS v6 model if anyone was wondering. Also sorry if this was the wrong forums i didn’t see anything relating to mods.

You could, but I don’t think you should. If it was a car from the 80’s, it might work. But considering it’s so new, I wouldn’t. It would probably mess with lots of stuff.

The Tucson I have is basically one of the first generations of it. 04-05.. yeah like you said it would mess with lots of stuff, and I prefer not to break anything.
It uses a borg-warner clutch torque thing for the rear diff.

I realize in my first post I wasn’t real specific. i was tired. I think it would probably throw a lot of codes and stuff. Plus, you’re going to be putting all the power through something that was likely not designed to handle all of the cars power. Even though the engine isn’t very powerful, I have a feeling parts in the rear would break. Additionally, if you were going to convert at all, you would convert to FWD cause I am pretty sure AWD was an option. Somebody on the forum just did a video converting a Honda Element from AWD to FWD in the how to forum. But since your RWD parts aren’t giving you any issues, it kinda doesn’t apply. It’s a neat video though.

Yeah it probably wouldn’t be able to handle the power as it is a 50/50 torque spilt system. Without awd on it’s just normal fwd. If it does work it’ll probably just be the same as in the normal mode. About the codes, i wouldn’t care only they don’t break anything. The engine is the Delta 2.7 v6 with 198hp and 201torque, I just upgraded the ecu and it’s running on e85. I get to 100kmh in 7.2 seconds and maybe it may be faster in rwd?

Most modern small SUVs are designed as front wheel drive with AWD added. You are right, there’s no way the rear drive portion of the system could handle it for long. If it would even work. All you have to do is look at the size of the rear axles compared to the front to estimate how much power they are even designed to possibly put to the road.

Here’s a picture of the rear differential. This isn’t mine btw. It’s the same as mine though.
