automatic transmission problems

i also forgot to mention that it only seems to grind after sitting for at least 4-6 hours, once

Has the trans ever been serviced before?_x000D_

the fluid was dark red, it looked quite dirty, im not sure if it has been serviced before, ive only owned the car for 6 months.._x000D_

there are no service lights on at all.

I didn’t really hear a ‘grinding’ in the video but I’ll take your word for it.

i serviced it today, changed the filter and the oil, the oil didnt smell burnt but it was very dark._x000D_
my girlfriend tells me she thinks its more of a whining noise, its most apparent when changing gears when ice cold and progressively goes away as the car

Are you sure the noise is coming from the tranny?

yep, it only does it when it goes through the gears._x000D_

if i have my foot on the brake, and go from first gear to drive it grinds going through all gears and then grinds worse when putting it in reverse,

Do you have any transmission line gages that you can hook up to the trans lines to monitor pressures and compare them to factory values?_x000D_

And does the issue go away once the trans fluid is at operating temperature?_x000D_

the noise does go away when at operating temperature, but the sound is apparent sometimes when at high rpm changing gears._x000D_

To me that sounds like a fluid issue OR it’s normal for that vehicle.

it didnt have the sound when i brought the car, its slowly came on and gotten worse…_x000D_

You might have a transmission problem then, if you have fresh fluid in there and still have a problem it could mean that some of the hard parts in the transmission are going bad.

i have a feeling its the converter pump ._x000D_
its strange that the it has such low miles and is already have problems! oh well, i suppose ill drive it until the transmission fails and then replace it!

I would not condemn the converter or the pump as you really don’t know what the problem is till you get in there and find it.
