Can you provide more info on the modern ignition system? You talking about electronic ignition on a distributor, or a coil-on-plug system? What model, etc?

Fast duel sync distributor, Fast E-6 ignition box and Fast E-6-2 coil.
Fast Easy EFI 2 system. Fast tech, no help.

Since it’s still distributed spark, I would expect the tach to work the same. The wire from the ICM/dizzy to the coil that triggers the spark branches off to the tach.
