Hi, i have a question. I have a 1994 Audi 100cs and my problem is, is that the radio is not getting any power to it, it has 3 plugins in the back, 1 is for speakers out, 1 is for power in, 1 is for the dimmer faceplates and lights on the front of the radio(which work just fine when i turn on the headlights).

First thing i did was check the fuses, it only has one fuse for the radio and its a metal one in the fuse box located under the hood. And the fuse is good, my problem is, power is getting to the fuse box, and then it is leaving through the good fuse, but its just not getting to the radio, i checked the constant +12v that runs to the radio and it doesn’t have any power to it, everything else in the car works fine, all the little lights for everything, power seats, ect everything works but the radio.

Does anyone have or know where i can get a wiring diagram? I checked the Autozone site and they didn’t have anything on this car, and i googled it and all the other sites wanted me to subscribed and pay fees ect. The only thing left to do is take apart the dash and actually trace the wire, but i would rather not do that if theres a simpler solution.

Thank you, that sites very helpful. Would you say that maybe the Radio gets power through the cruise control unit according to this page? Or am i mistaken?

I didn’t see anything on those diagrams for the radio, perhaps I missed it or perhaps it’s on a different page. That said if you have power at the fuse box and not at the back of the radio it’s possible there is a wiring problem between the fuse box and radio. If that’s the case you could ohm the wire to verify if it was intact or not.

Thanks for the suggestion Eric. What i ended up doing is running a new fused power wire from the cigarette lighter, and a new switch wire from a difference source in some random cable that supplies 12v when the key is turned, radio still doesn’t turn on but the speakers make a crackling whine, so im assuming the radio is toast, im just going to get an adapter and throw an aftermarket deck in there 🙂

It does sound like the radio is at issue and may have caused a problem with the circuit itself. I guess you won’t know till you replace the radio. Keep us posted.
