So i have 169000 miles on my transmission in my 1997 mountaineer. The fuild is at a good level but brownish/red and slightly burnt smelling. I have heard stories where people blow up their transmissions after changing the fluid on old ones. Is it better to let the old fluid stay? Dont want to destroy the transmission prematurely
