I like tires. I think they have the biggest overall effect on a vehicle. I also like ‘good’ tires. In short, I don’t mind investing in tires, in fact, it’s something I do often.

How do you feel about tires?

You evolve from a junkie to an ocd bastard when messing with vibration issues on 2014-2015 silverados. The quality of Bridgestone has really gone downhill from what they used to be IMO.

When I saw the vid on Are You a Tire Junkie, I felt instant recognition. I love tyres – the smell, the tread patterns etc etc and I like buying new tyres. I was thinking about how this “problem” started and I put it back to 1970 when I had a second hand Ford Cortina. It had the old cross ply tyres and when these wore down I replaced the whole set with radials. The transformation was spectacular and I have been interested in tyres ever since. Looking at cars and the tyres they’ve got on them is something I do all the time.

My addiction has many forms. I am actually looking forward to when the front tyres on my Honda Jazz (Fit) wear down so I can replace them. I then obsess about whether to replace all 4 even though the rears have loads of tread. The tyres on the car are stock – Dunlop SP2030s – but they are not the greatest so do I change brands in two steps – fronts and then rear further down the line.

Good to know others are similarly afflicted!

Yes, I’m a big junkie myself. I love the look and feel of brand new tires and yes, I look at other cars and compare tires as well. I have a question though, right now I’m looking to buy a new set for my 2012 Accord LX-P (4-door, 2.4L), the originals lasted 88,000+ miles (very impressive), so I wanted to get a new set of new Michellin Premier A/S H or V rated. I’ve always been a fan of Michellin tires but I’ve been reading so many complaints about the Premier and the Defender models as noisy noisy noisy. Anyone have opinions on this panel that can shed some light/experience with either of these models? I live in the Boston area so icy conditions is important. Consumer Reports has them rated at the top of the crop, including in the noise category so I’m torn.
Any word/thoughts on the Michellins? Any input is greatly appreciated.

On another note, I bought a new set of Bridgestone Ecopias for my 2006 Odyssey Touring in Aug 2016 (They were a cheaper option to Michellins) from Costco, been satisfied so far. Costco uses only nitrogen now to fill tires and it makes a difference from regular shop air. I haven’t had to refill the tires since, the tire monitor in my Odyssey even reports the PSI on each tire and it’s been pretty consistent ’till now that temps have dropped to an avg 35°-45° (PSI has dropped about 4PSI with the colder temps). Tires have been quiet and no complaints so far, very smooth when driven even with seven passengers on a round trip 220 miles each way. I haven’t driven them in icy conditions yet so I can’t report on that.

                Hope that helps anyone.

Tires definitely make the difference in handling on my Subaru BRZ. Also tire pressure. You’d lose 5-7 pounds of pressure in the winter before the tire light comes on!
