Hello all, my oil could do with a slight top up but I am not sure what type is currently in there.

It is either fully synthetic or 5W-30 and there is only about 1800 miles on the oil as it was serviced just before I bought it so I’d rather not do a full change as I don’t feel it’s necessary yet although I’m willing to if it’s the best thing to do.

I already have some fully synthetic oil that I could use to top up with, supposing there was 5W-30 in the engine already, would topping up with a bit of fully synthetic be bad?

The engine is a Honda 2.2 ICTDI

My instincts are telling me viscosities should not be mixed

      Any help much appreciated

If you don’t want to change the oil then go ahead and top it up with the synthetic. All oils are compatible with each other.
