I just picked up this Miller tool for removing the front crank seal on my Jeep. $17 on eBay for the proper special tool that won’t run the risk of damaging the crankshaft or bore seemed like a good deal.
Only problem is, there are no instructions with it. Does anybody know how it’s supposed to be used?
The FSM has a single picture, but no explanation…
The large nut is part of the body of the tool and doesn’t move.
I’m just guessing here, but possibly you turn the body of the tool so that the sharp spiral thread on the left side bites into the seal, then you turn the threaded bolt part to extend the collar and push the tool and seal out of the crankshaft bore?
