Hi guys my gf’s 2003 Camry recently had the driver’s side door replaced due to it being hit badly.

We went to a junk yard and the owner said he’d replace the door for a fraction cost an autobody shop would.

Came out looking good except I believe he used a door from another trim of the same year model because now the power window switches don’t do as they should. One will open rear windows but won’t roll them up or another window switch rolls up another etc

I’m pretty sure he didn’t swap the harnesses as it would have been more work. We went back but he’s blaming the control panel and refusing to admit fault.

I’m hoping with the schematics I can maybe rewire/swap wires to do as they should

I can’t say too much specifically for your car, but most cars I’ve seen wouldn’t have a connector for the harness to act as a break between the door and body. That would mean he’d have had to take the interior panels off both doors and fish out the original harness on yours, and then fish that same harness back into the new door. So, theoretically, the wiring should be fine. For what my own snooping shows, that door will fit any Camry from 2002 to 2006 with only one minor difference in the wiring between 2003 and 2004 that’s not going to affect anything in your car. My guess is that you got the master switch from the donor car and it’s internally shorted out. One other thing to consider is the possibility that there was a ground wire that was supposed to get screwed down to the door and it didn’t so it’s causing a backfeeding problem.

There is a break from door to wiring of the car because I saw the original door and harness when we went by.

He reinstalled the master switch from her original door and all the panels, only thing that wasn’t swapped was the entire door harness

In that case, I’d try to get my old door back to swap out all the internals. Grab the harness, the regulator, even the old speakers. You might as well not leave anything to chance if you can help it.

Update: he found a master switch off an xle which turns out the door was from.

Her car is an Le. He tried the switch and everything works now. But I can’t help but wonder why Toyota designed those two models differently?

What’s the benefit? The master switch off the xle doesn’t have any additional features than the le on it

First you go to as backyarder to get work done that should be done by a professional.
Then you complain that the electrics don’t work properly and the the guy that did the cheap back yard job won’t fix it.
Then the guy fixes it and everything works fine.
So what are you complaining about now exactly?
