      Hey folks,

I’m in the process of replacing a dead starter motor, but have had great difficulty wiring up the new solenoid because of its location. The powered end of the solenoid sits back under the intake manifold , and it’s impossible to wire with the starter in position. The best I can figure out, you have to turn the starter 90 degrees and wedge it against the block. But even when I did this, I couldn’t get the wires tight, and got a bunch of sparks when I tried to start. And you ruin the risk of the starter falling through and hitting the ground.

Has anybody ever done this job before? How did you manage to get it in?

      -Matt

YOU CAN USE A LONG EXTENSION AND SWIVEL SOCKET AND FEED THROUGH THE INTAKE. MAYBE THIS WILL HELP

I tried this a little while ago, but no dice. You can’t get your fingers under the manifold to get the bolts off the studs.

I saw this, but it seems a lot easier in the video than I’ve found it to be, not quite sure how he manages to balance it like that
