When you change tires, it’s technically called dismounting the tire from the rim and mounting the new tire. Just a note for any non-techs reading this.
So today I, a HUGE fan of Full Metal Jacket who can accurately quote too much of that movie, was about to mount a tire. I looked at a couple of the other guys, who also at least know the movie, and start imitating the Rifleman’s Creed scene:
“Prepare to mount!… Mount!”
“These are my tires, there are many like them but these tires are mine.
My tires are my best friends, they are my life. I must master them as I must master my life
Without me, my tires are useless. Without my tires, I am useless. I must mount my tires true.”
That was as far as I got just improvising on the spot, but we thought it was pretty funny. I’m not a Marine, just a big Full Metal Jacket fan and appreciator of Marines. I know the scene leaves out half of the speech, but it was memorable for me. If you’re not familiar with the scene in question:
